On Saturday, September 28 at 9am-2pm, St. Aquinas Catholic Church will be hosting its Second Annual Multicultural Health Fair.  Please see the information below. Please distribute to all of your contacts.

Below is a message from Harold J. Copeland, Coordinator:

I would like to officially invite your organization to participate in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church’s 2nd Annual Multicultural Health Fair.  The event will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2013, 9 AM – 2 PM, 1700 Block Morris Street, Philadelphia PA 19145.  Set-up times for all vendors will be 8 AM – 8:45 AM.  Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for all vendors.

 This is a free, family-oriented, community event open to the public

Please confirm your participation by contacting me at 215-749-4220 or via email.  We look forward to partnering with your organization at this important community Health Fair.  Please advise what types of services, for example, blood pressure screening, BMI, etc. your organization will be providing.  Health-related materials and giveaways are encouraged.  Employment-related agencies have been invited to provide additional services to our attendees.  The media has been invited to this event

Free Dental Clinics in Pennsylvania [Brushing Teeth]Temple University Liacouras Center at 1776 North Broad Street Philadelphia, PA 19121 Friday, May 31 and Saturday June 1, 2013 Doors Open At 6:00 AM Fillings, cleanings, extractions, and much more!!! No eligibility or income requirements!!! Children and Adults!!! MOM-n-PA is an annual two-day free dental clinic for under-served Pennsylvanians. All services are provided free of charge by members of organized dentistry and assisted by a host of volunteers. MOM-n-PA provides dental care for the relief of pain to thousands of the most needy,many of whom are from working families who do not have access or cannot afford dental insurance. Many of these patients might otherwise have no hope of receiving care. During our mission on May 31 and June 1st, 2013, more than 800 volunteers, including 120 dentists will treat around 2,000 patients! Services Include: fillings, cleanings, extractions, and much more! N.J. law shields 911 callers reporting drug overdoses | Maiken Scott | newsworks.org | 5/2/13

New Jersey aims to reduce the number of drug overdoses — which have killed more than 6,000 people in the last decade — with a new law protecting people who call 911 to report drug overdoses from criminal charges…

Under the new law, those seeking help in case of an overdose will not face drug possession charges, or be charged for violating parole…

New Jersey is the 12th state to adopt this kind of law. While police don’t typically don’t press charges in overdose situations, research on the effects of such laws found that they have diminished fear of repercussions among addicts.

The Department of Translation and Interpretation in collaboration with the Department of Legal Services at Nationalities Service Center is pleased to announce our newest interpreter training course:

This innovative course is designed for bilingual individuals aspiring to become state certified court
interpreters. Introductory Techniques for Court Interpreters will provide a strong foundation in the legal system and terminology as well as interpreter skills through a combination of:
 Courtroom Culture
 Consecutive and Simultaneous Interpretation
 Sight Translation
 Memory Building Strategies
 Note Taking Techniques
 Practice-Based Activities

This course is not language specific and instruction is entirely in English. There are no entry requirements. Students will be provided with all course materials. This course is designed to help participants improve their skills while working to become a certified court interpreter in the state of
Pennsylvania.
